Built to Swing for Generations, The Enduring Craft of Outdoor Comfort

In an age of fast furniture and short attention spans, it’s rare to find something that still carries weight, literally and figuratively. At Moon Valley Rustics, we’ve been building log swings since 1928, the kind that outlast trends and often outlive the trees they’re nestled beneath.

We didn’t borrow the A-frame design. We made it. If you’ve sat on a log swing in the Midwest sometime in the last 90 years, odds are it came from our workshop in Holly, Michigan. And while others have copied the look, they can’t touch the feel, because we still make them the way they should be made. By hand. With real wood. With an eye for balance and a sense of proportion that doesn’t come from a template.

Sit on one of our swings and you’ll know exactly what I mean. That subtle arc. The solid weight. The way it moves, not too fast, not too slow, just right. That’s not luck. That’s craft. The kind that turns a backyard into a place worth sitting in.

We still build every outdoor swing in michigan using Northern White Cedar for its strength, stability, and resistance to rot. The seats are contoured, not flat planks, and every bolt and bracket is placed with intention. Nothing squeaks. Nothing shifts. And everything is built to hold its own through rain, wind, and time.

We’re not in the fast furniture business. We’re in the stay-awhile business.

There’s a reason our swings stick around

They’re passed down. They get repainted, retightened, maybe moved from one house to the next. We’ve heard from customers who still use the same swing their parents bought 30 years ago. That’s not nostalgia, it’s durability. And a good swing should last, especially if it’s going to hold your kids, your coffee, or your last hour of sunlight on a quiet day.

You’ll find options for two, three, or more. We make double gliders for folks who prefer a smoother motion, and tete-a-tete styles for those who like face-to-face conversation. We also build canopy kits, full coverage, tightly fit, no sagging, and replacement fabrics for swings that just need a fresh top.

If you’re in the market for a lawn swing for sale, be honest with yourself: Do you want something that’s light enough to blow over in a storm, or something that will still be here when your grandkids are tall enough to hop on it themselves?

A Swing Shouldn’t Be Just Furniture

It should be part of the place. Not flashy. Not mass-produced. Just solid, well-built, and ready to be used, morning after morning, season after season. That’s what we make.

This isn’t assembly-line work. We’re still hands-on, still sanding the corners ourselves, still making sure every frame fits just right. We don’t cut for volume, we cut for fit. And when we send a swing out the door, we expect it to be outside for the next couple of decades.

If that sounds like what you're looking for in a garden swing seat, good. Because that’s exactly what we’re here to build.

Conclusion: The Good Stuff Always Stays

You can find a swing parts for sale in a dozen places online. What you can’t find just anywhere is a swing with history. One that was made by people who’ve been building these things for nearly a century. One that’s measured, cut, and assembled by hand, from real wood, in a real shop, by folks who actually use what they build.

Moon Valley Rustics has been making swings longer than most companies have been around. We’re not chasing trends. We’re just doing what we’ve always done, building something solid, honest, and made to last.

If that’s what you’re after, we’ve got room on the porch.
